We are lucky enough to be able to offer a one day workshop with Fiona Wilson - this is a rare opportunity to work with her for the day. Taking place in our beautiful studio at Heart of the Country Shopping Village, Lichfield.
Printed Pattern Workshop: Creating Colourful Handcrafted Prints
A one-day creative workshop – suitable for all levels
Overview:
Join Fiona for a vibrant, hands-on workshop exploring the world of colour, pattern, and print.
Perfect for beginners who are new to printmaking, as well as experienced creatives looking to refresh their practice and discover new ways of working.
This one-day session will introduce you to the process of designing and creating your own print plates and using them to produce beautiful patterned papers, no printing press required!
Delicious pastries, home made bakes and tea & coffee included.
There is time to grab lunch at one of the on site eateries, or you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch and eat in front of our cozy log burner.
What You’ll Learn:
* How to design and create your own simple print plates
* Techniques for creating repeating patterns and layered prints
* Colour mixing and basic colour theory to help you get the best results
* Tips for working with pattern, rhythm, and composition
* How to print on paper using minimal tools and materials
* Ways to create a cohesive collection of colourful, patterned papers
What You’ll Create:
By the end of the day, you’ll have your own set of print plates and a range of unique hand-printed papers that you can use for:
* Collage, sketchbooks, and art journaling
* Creative backgrounds for mixed media or painting
*Surface design inspiration for future printmaking, textiles, or painting projects
Why You’ll Love It
This is a low-tech, high-impact technique that’s easy to continue at home with minimal tools. Your handmade print plates can be used again and again, offering endless combinations of colour and pattern.
By the end of the day, you will have explored lots of ways to use your printed plates and papers creatively and have a great stash that can be added to sketchbooks, collage compositions, or mixed media artworks for layered, textured results.
